My name is Valerie Andrews and this is my partner Casco, an 8 year-old Connemara cross. I began playing with and riding horses about six years ago as an antidote to a busy life as a working mom, after my husband made my dream come true by giving me barn plans for my 50th birthday. For some reason I thought it would be easier to have my horse at home, and before I knew it, I had two horses in the backyard (they get lonely, right?) and a LOT to learn about barn and pasture management, not to mention horsemanship!! I found my Parelli Professional Avery Gauthier about a year into this adventure, after the typical pre-Parelli unscheduled dismounts and other equine expressions of unhappiness. I’m an LBI and I just wanted the horses to like me (and stop rearing and bucking!). Horse psychology seemed like the way to go, and I have never looked back.
I am just starting to work on my Level 4 and haven’t chosen a specialization yet. Casco and I have been partners for three years, and for now, we trail ride and continue to focus on improving our fluidity and harmony and learning Level 4 in all 4 savvys. We could never have done this without Avery and the Parelli program and I am so excited and nervous about the opportunity to learn from Linda and the other riders in this Master Class. Thanks so much to Sandy and Laura for making this clinic a reality.
