At eight years old, I had my first ride on my aunt’s horse and from that point on I was hooked. My parents started me in lessons at a hunter/jumper barn when I was in fifth grade and I began leasing a horse and showing with that barn when I was in eighth grade. I continued to ride until I graduated from high school and then had a 16 year hiatus due to lack of funds. When I was finally able to get back into horses, I was working at a farm and dealing with some young horses who were at the barn for training; their behavior while being led to and from the fields sent me searching for solutions and that’s how I discovered Parelli. Since that time, I have become a PATH International Advanced therapeutic riding instructor and Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning. I also teach horsemanship and riding lessons at my farm, Healing Hope Farm, in Chester, NH (www.healinghopefarm.com). Sophie, my partner for this clinic, and I are currently working in level 4 and I hope to learn some strategies at this clinic to help us advance our horsemanship and come closer to being able to do our level 4 auditions.
